Festival of Slaps:
Abdou Cisse x BBC Film

Festival of Slaps, a BAFTA-nominated short film, is hailed as an "explosively hilarious" BBC production that celebrates the unsung heroes – Black mums. Written and directed by Abdou Cissé, renowned for his award-winning short ‘Serious Tingz’, Festival of Slaps is a beautifully built film package that uses its carefully crafted brand world to give it a life beyond the screen.

By Nevele was brought on by Abdou Cissé to craft the campaign and brand world from an advertising perspective. Sharing a background in advertising, Abdou Cissé and By Nevele’s founder both believe that film and TV show promotion should be approached with the same creativity and meticulousness as a full 360-degree advertising campaign. Together, they developed a strategy that engaged audiences through a dynamic poster campaign and incorporated experiential event elements to ensure the rollout of Festival of Slaps would be iconic, culturally impactful, and memorable.

By Nevele handled the entire post-production graphics process, from creating the film’s visual identity to assisting with the campaign’s creative direction. We designed the title sequences and produced both print and digital posters for various media, including social media and out-of-home placements.
