Wow, it’s hard to believe we’ve finally hit the big 10!
Time really does fly when you’re having a blast – and trust me, we’ve been having a lot of fun along the way. From fashion and design to ad-land, television, and film, this past decade has been a wild, creative ride that’s given life to some truly iconic projects, brands, and visuals. As we celebrate this milestone, I’d love for you to join me in reflecting on the past 10 years of Brand Building and the journey that got us here. Let’s dive in!

A multi-award winning TV series!

We had the absolute honour of working on I May Destroy You, a BAFTA-winning masterpiece by Michaela Coel! This show racked up more awards than I can even keep track of. Who would've guessed that our very first TV project would go on to become a national treasure and one of the most iconic series of the decade? By Nevele handled the post-production graphics for the entire series – and the rest, as they say, is history!

Ironically, I May Destroy You You did everything but destroy us – it catapulted us into the world of Film & TV. From there, we’ve had the chance to craft stunning brand worlds and bring our advertising know-how to television production. By Nevele leapt from the shoulders of this giant and soared into an exciting new space, where we continue to create the perspective changing content we’re so passionate about!

The STALK of the town!

By Nevele had the incredible opportunity to work on an Emmy Award-winning show that the world couldn’t stop talking about. From online sleuths to Piers Morgan Uncensored, Baby Reindeer by Richard Gadd became the talk of the town, dominating conversations globally as it held the number one spot on Netflix for four thrilling weeks. We contributed post-production graphics for 3 of the 7 episodes – seen by over 40 million viewers within the first two weeks.

After speaking with Richard Gadd about his real-life stalking ordeal that inspired the series, we knew we were diving into a project that would not only make waves but shift culture. Baby Reindeer sparked new conversations around some of the most stigmatised topics in the film and TV industry, and we’re proud to have played a part in that cultural shift – telling stories that matter, even when they’re difficult to share.

The GREATEST Experience!

Never in a million years did we expect a call asking us to direct a promotional trailer for Muhammad Ali’s immersive theatre experience - but when that call came, we were ready to RUMBLE! From working as part of advertising mogul Trevor Beattie’s company (BMB Agency), to working alongside him, executively producing a captivating campaign, this project was by far one of the most demanding, yet rewarding pieces of world our studio has ever created.

Rematch Live, the company behind the critically acclaimed experience, trusted us to create a promo film to tease their immersive theatre experience. By Nevele took the reins – directing, producing, art directing, and even composing original music for the trailer. Our mission was to create the GREATEST (event trailer) OF ALL TIME while honouring the legend, Muhammad Ali. We’re beyond grateful to everyone who believed in us and to the incredible team that helped us make history with this project!

What DREAMS are made of!

This project was kind of a big deal! Produced by Big Deal Films x A24, Dreaming Whilst Black took the industry by storm, and viewers were swept off their feet. What began as a humble web series blossomed into a showcase of Black excellence, with BAFTA-winning lead actor and writer Adjani Salmon proving that dreams really do come true. By Nevele was brought into the post-production process to design and animate UI graphics across the entire series, helping bring Adjani’s storytelling to life.

While many brands and shows boast culture, few truly centre their stories around it. The authenticity in both craft and narrative made Dreaming Whilst Black a one-of-a-kind project that not only reflects but enriches the creative landscape for Black creatives. With season two already green-lit, we’re excited to continue building and expanding the digital landscape through on-screen graphics that make this show so special. Dreaming Whilst Black is not just a win for television, but a victory for every Black creative with a BIG dream.

Shock HORROR - we made a film!

In 2020, we took a bold step into the ad-film market and created our first film, carving out a new space for our studio. After analysing short-form consumption habits with creative strategy agency Roco, By Nevele wrote, produced, and co-directed our debut ad-film – with a shocking twist! Centred around a "horror at home," this unique story not only shifted perspectives but tugged at heartstrings, making a sound the world couldn’t ignore.

The two-part ad-film was just one piece of the larger campaign. The Last Strike reinforced its message through powerful posters and a curated selection of social media assets, boosting engagement and raising awareness to the cause. As the first of many self-funded projects for By Nevele, we proudly present our film as "A Horror Like No Other" – but we promise, “it’s not what it looks like” (even though it is). We invite you to watch our film and experience the power of storytelling when advertising and film come together.

Richest in the Room?

Yep, you read that right – Richest in the Room is a card game created by By Nevele, and who knew lockdown would lead to such a gem? What started as a personal project from our founder quickly turned into a sought-after game. Turns out, putting a price on morality can pay off – quite literally. You could say we struck gold! Richest in the Room is an 18+ card game that asks the big question: how much would it take for you to sell your soul? Don’t worry, if you win, you might just be able to buy it back!

The game boasts seamless gameplay, a virtual dice feature, a sharp sense of humour, sleek design, and viral appeal. The goal is simple – it’s all in the name. To win, you’ve got to become the Richest in the Room. We never imagined we’d be developing a game – especially one inspired by COVID and created by By Nevele – but building brands is what we do best. This project reminds us how creativity can turn even the toughest situations into gold. Richest in the Room is easily one of our favourite projects, but don’t just take our word for it. One foot in front of the other!

A New Balance story – By Nevele. Every so often, we get the chance to be part of a BIG brand's journey – and it's even better when we’ve played a key role in their story for over half a decade. New Balance, a global leader in performance gear, has long been at the forefront of athletic apparel. While they've recently gained recognition for their lifestyle products, they've been pushing boundaries for years by championing athlete stories – steadily becoming an internationally recognised household name.

By Nevele has collaborated with New Balance through renowned agencies like BMB Agency and Bridge and Tunnel on several 360-degree global campaigns. Our contributions have spanned TV ads, print, OOH, and social media content, offering services such as creative design, graphic design, retouching, content creation, and video editing. Some of our favourite projects include retouching and colour grading for their Football, Tennis, Running Club, and Cricket campaigns, as well as creating content for the 2019 New Balance x Virgin Money London Marathon. This New Balance story is a testament to how hard work and a willingness to explore new territories can put you a foot ahead of your competition.

This film SLAPS!

Festival of Slaps, the BIFA and LFF-winning short film from the brilliant mind of writer-director Abdou Cisse, was a project By Nevele was excited to put our hand to – pun intended! From its blood-red typographic tones to its horror-inspired poster artwork, the campaign rollout was designed to give a chilling preview of what was to come –and it was a bloody success. Following By Nevele’s Ad-Film campaign, The Last Strike, we had become known for purposeful misdirection, making this project a perfect fit.

By Nevele was brought on to creatively direct the poster design, create the art direction for pre-release promotions, design the film titles, and prepare other post-production graphics. Coming from Ad-Land, Abdou understood the importance of a strong campaign and made the visual aesthetic a priority for the project. These elements helped Festival of Slaps become one of the most talked-about short films of 2023 – 2024. The campaign hit as hard as the film, and critic reviews confirmed it! This project reminded audiences that bold, STRIKING campaigns can truly elevate a film's impact. A massive thanks to Abdou Cisse for trusting us to spearhead a campaign for a film that SLAPS!

Mama, we made this!

This is tale of Beauty – by design. MamaSia is a natural beauty and wellness brand with a brand story that’s close to our hearts. Several aspects of MamaSia’s first campaign, which was creatively directed and produced by By Nevele, hold a special place in our journey. Their 'Gifted by Nature' campaign stands out as one of our favourite projects, thanks to its cross-continental appeal and hands-on approach to bringing wellness brands into the spotlight. Our studio coined MamaSia’s mantra, "From our lands to your hands," to emphasise their unique selling point: products made from natural resources – on a farm in Ghana – and packaged in the UK.

When designing the brand logo and product packaging, we drew inspiration from their Afropolitan identity, blending African influences with Western design aesthetics. From the campaign’s earthy tones and African print lids, to the symbolic focus on hands presenting the products, this culturally-redefining campaign showcased the MamaSia brand as nature’s gift to the world. This campaign not only marked a moment for the MamaSia brand, but also opened doors for By Nevele, leading to our first brand-building talk at the world-renowned Design Museum in 2018.

We DID the Green Thing!

This is a public service announcement! Do The Green Thing, a brand that uses creativity to combat the climate crisis, enlisted our studio to creatively direct the 17th issue of their initiative, a campaign designed to inspire change. Collaborating with the talented artist Shyama Golden, who crafted the project’s stunning illustrations, By Nevele was responsible for shaping the overall art direction for their digital issue and exhibition.

Focused on the intersection of race and climate change, this project offered us two significant opportunities: to delve into the complex relationship between race and climate issues, and to advocate for change – a cause By Nevele is deeply passionate about. Titled “The Colour of the Climate Crisis”, the campaign allowed us to partner with brilliant minds from the renowned design agency Pentagram, producing impactful, climate-conscious content for a brand with a meaningful mission.

The SKY wasn’t the limit!

DBK Studios, a production powerhouse, first teamed up with By Nevele for their rebrand, where we refreshed their brand image. When DBK Studios’ founder and director, Koby Adom, announced a slate of short films for Sky Studios, he appointed By Nevele as the creative studio for the project. Titled Unearthed Narratives, this collection of five films required comprehensive creative direction, and our studio delivered all the graphics and the marketing content for each film. Our involvement spanned various creative aspects, from consulting on art direction to key-visual photography for film posters, typography, and title design. 

The DBK slate showcased stories from five writer-directors, whose unique perspectives allowed us to unearth creative gems throughout the process. Fields, Teju’s Tale, Daddy’s Girl, Why Me?, and Butterfly Affect all premiered on Sky Arts, where they’ve found a lasting home on our screens. By Nevele is proud to have helped bring these narratives to life and, more importantly, to have supported the journeys of these talented writer-directors. Since 2022, these creatives have continued making waves in TV, film, music promos, and even as actors – proving that for them, the sky isn’t the limit.

Bending the RULES!

Who says title design can't be a creative masterpiece? As we expanded our portfolio of TV post-production graphics, we were thrilled when Producer Simon Meyers reached out to collaborate on Rules of the Game, a four-part BBC drama starring Maxine Peake and Rakhee Thakrar. This crime-thriller gave us the perfect opportunity to leave our distinctive mark on yet another BBC series, through its title design and post-production graphics. The brief was clear: create a title mark that captured the essence of the show in a single frame, then use motion to reinforce its core message.

We dove into concept development, ultimately creating an iconic visual identity that would define the series. Using symbolism to reflect the show’s focus on gender roles, we designed a title card animation that inverted gender symbols, aligning with one of the series' integral themes. Rules of the Game allowed our studio to showcase our design expertise, using motion not just to captivate, but to amplify the story’s narrative. Alongside additional post-production graphics, this project gave us the chance to break traditional title design norms and leave a lasting mark on British television.

The right time to turn a page!

While pursuing a degree in Industrial Design and Engineering at Brunel University, our founder embarked on an exciting journey into the fashion industry. It was here that he uncovered his passion for creative and art direction, copywriting, photography and retouching, editorial design, UX/UI, and more. This period marked the beginning of a seven-year adventure, during which he crafted some of the most memorable work of his career.

In 2009, Fashion News Outlet (FNO Magazine), formerly known as Fashionation Online, emerged from its origins as an online publication to become a comprehensive hub for fashion brands, news, style advice and trends. FNO Magazine quickly evolved into a key player in the fashion world, offering a modelling agency, brand consultancy, engaging editorials, in-house columns, and an international readership. Our founder designed the platform to serve as a marketplace for boutique brands, a haven for fashion enthusiasts seeking bespoke content, and a springboard for big brands to launch their collections.

As the platform’s closing chapter approached, FNO Magazine released its first documentary, ‘If Shots Could Kill’, as a farewell gift to its readers. This scripted fashion documentary was written, directed, scored, and produced by our founder. This journey was instrumental, opening doors to the advertising industry and equipping our founder with a diverse skill set. These experiences laid the foundation for what would eventually become By Nevele. This wasn’t the end of our story, just time to turn the page.

IN it for the love of it!

In 2018, LinkedIn, the global leader in professional networking, launched a major marketing campaign that made waves worldwide. The creative agency behind it, BMB, developed a comprehensive campaign spanning social media, OOH billboards, a TV advert, and numerous other assets. Our founder had the privilege of working with the talented creative teams at BMB to bring this brand campaign to life. From typographic layouts and TV title design to adapting the campaign for social media and creating billboard artwork, it was beautiful to observe the launch of this campaign as it captured the world’s attention.

Not only was the campaign visually stunning, but its message was seamlessly communicated, reminding us why we’re ‘In It’. This project was one of the final few our founder worked on before leaving BMB. It was time to leave the agency he called home for nearly five years, to take a leap of faith – leading to the birth of By Nevele. The experience gained from working with big brands like LinkedIn helped shape who we are today. Now, as our own agency, we’re inspired by that journey, and we aim to nurture the next generation of creative thinkers and brand-building leaders!
