The Power of Branding
Welcome to your brand building journey!
At By Nevele, we believe that your brand is more than just a logo – it's the heart and soul of your business. A strong brand identity can transform how customers perceive you and set you apart in a competitive market. Are you ready to discover the incredible potential of your brand?
What is brand identity?
Brand identity is the visual and emotional representation of your business. It encompasses everything from your logo and colour palette to your messaging and values. Think of it as your brand’s personality – how you want the world to see you! It’s not just about aesthetics; it’s about creating a connection with your audience that resonates on multiple levels.
Why does brand identity matter?
Brand identity isn’t just a logo slapped on your product – it’s the vibe, the energy, the whole experience of what your business stands for. It’s the reason people choose you over someone else. From the colours you use to the tone in your emails, your brand identity is how people recognise and feel connected to your brand.
Think about your favourite brands – you know them instantly because they’ve nailed this! A strong brand identity doesn’t just make you memorable, it builds trust, sparks loyalty, and makes people say, "Yep, that’s my brand." Without it, you're just another face in the crowd. With it, you’re unforgettable.
How we elevate your brand
At By Nevele, we’re all about crafting brand identities that don’t just look good – they feel good too. All our designs are bespoke and original; we dive deep to capture the essence of what makes your brand tick. From eye-catching logos to tasteful colour palettes and typography that speaks directly to your audience, we design with intention. Every visual element is crafted to spark emotion and leave a lasting impression on everyone who interacts with your brand.
But it’s not just about aesthetics. Your brand’s voice matters too. We ensure your messaging hits home, stays consistent, and resonates across all platforms – from Instagram to your website – building recognition and trust at every touchpoint.
What sets us apart? We’re not about short-term wins. We’re in it for the long haul. We create brands with staying power – ones that evolve and grow with you while staying true to their roots. At By Nevele, we don’t just build brands – we create timeless identities that leave a lasting mark.

Stories to Spark Your Creativity
On the hunt for logo inspiration? Take a peek at these world renowned brands and learn more about the stories that brought these brands to life. Each brand has a unique story and some fun facts that might just surprise you!
-
Amazon's founder, Jeff Bezos, was deeply involved in every stage of the company’s logo development. The current design, launched in 2000 by designer Turner Duckworth, is a brilliant example of simplicity with a clever twist. The orange smile beneath the brand’s name doubles as an arrow, stretching from the letter ‘A’ to ‘Z’, symbolising that Amazon delivers everything from A to Z. This playful smile also hints at the joy customers feel when receiving their packages, reinforcing Amazon’s focus on customer satisfaction.

Disney's logo, a timeless symbol of childhood wonder, traces its origins to Walt Disney himself. The iconic castle made its debut in 1995 and received a dazzling 3D upgrade in 2006, courtesy of Pixar. While the logo’s script appears to be Walt’s handwriting, it’s actually a stylised version. Walt frequently changed his signature, making it impossible for designers to settle on a consistent version. As Disney expert Phil Sears notes, Walt’s ever-evolving signature reflects the spirit of Mickey Mouse – capturing a blend of innovation and whimsical magic.

The Nike swoosh is perhaps the most famous sports logo in the world, embodying motion, speed, and power. Created by designer Carolyn Davidson in 1971, the swoosh was inspired by the wings of Nike, the Greek goddess of victory. What makes this story even more fascinating is that Phil Knight, Nike’s co-founder, wasn’t initially thrilled with the design. “I don’t love it, but it will grow on me,” he remarked at the time. It certainly did, becoming a globally recognised symbol of athletic achievement.

The McDonald’s “golden arches” are an instantly recognisable icon of fast food, but their brand journey started as part of the architecture of the first franchised store in 1952. Designed by George Dexter, the stylised half circles were added to the building to create the letter “M”. When Ray Kroc took over the brand in 1961, he cleverly incorporated the arches into the corporate logo. Since then, the logo has been refreshed several times, with the most recent update in 2003. Its simplicity – the bright yellow arches often paired with the slogan “I’m lovin’ it” – has made it a symbol of comfort and familiarity across the globe.

Gucci’s iconic logo, with its interlocking double Gs, wasn’t introduced until 1933, over a decade after the fashion house was founded. Designed by Guccio Gucci’s son Aldo, the logo elegantly incorporates his father’s initials, with the two Gs facing opposite directions, creating a mirrored effect that has become synonymous with luxury and craftsmanship. The signature green and red ribbon, inspired by the colours of the Italian flag, was added in 1951 and is often used alongside the logo on clothing and accessories. This classic design remains one of the most recognisable in fashion.
-
Coca-Cola’s logo has been a hallmark of branding consistency since its inception in 1886. Designed by Frank Mason Robinson, the bookkeeper of Coca-Cola’s founder, the elegant Spencerian script has remained largely unchanged. Its bold red colour and fluid lettering evoke a sense of tradition and timelessness. Interestingly, Robinson chose the design because he believed the two Cs would stand out in advertising, a decision that has paid off in creating one of the most recognisable logos worldwide.
-
Google’s logo may be simple, but it speaks volumes. The current version, using a sans serif typeface, was introduced in 2015 as part of a broader brand refresh, replacing the original Baskerville Bold design. Its playful use of primary colours, with a rogue green 'L', symbolises the brand’s desire to break the rules and innovate. Google’s ever-evolving doodles, which celebrate holidays and notable events, reflect the brand’s ethos of constant creativity and fun.
-
Instagram’s logo evolution mirrors its transformation from a niche app for photographers into a global social media powerhouse. The original logo, designed by co-founder Kevin Systrom in 2010, was a retro camera that appealed to photography enthusiasts. By 2016, as Instagram’s audience expanded to include millennials, brands, and influencers, the logo was updated to a vibrant, modern design with a gradient of bold colours. This visual shift reflects Instagram’s broad, dynamic user base and its growing influence.

Since its introduction in 1955, Dove’s logo has remained a symbol of elegance and self-care. Created by Ian Brignell, the logo combines a graceful dove symbol with a refined wordmark, evoking feelings of softness, clarity, and luxury. The brand’s colours – white, blue, and gold – are thoughtfully chosen to represent purity, trust, and indulgence. Dove’s pioneering focus on real beauty and using real women in their advertising is beautifully reflected in their branding, making it a timeless icon.

Lego’s logo is a celebration of play and creativity. The version we know today was introduced in 1973 when the brand expanded into the United States. The bold red and yellow colours and playful typography make it instantly recognisable to children and adults alike. The logo underwent a slight refresh in 1998, with a tighter text layout and richer colours, yet its core playful identity remains unchanged. What many don’t realise is that the name Lego is derived from the Danish words “leg godt,” which mean “play well” – a fitting tribute to a brand that encourages imagination and joy.
-
Audi’s four rings represent the 1932 merger of four German automotive manufacturers – Audi, DKW, Horch, and Wanderer – into one company, the Auto Union. This logo, with its sleek interlocking rings, symbolises strength, unity, and innovation. Interestingly, Audi’s iconic rings once led to a legal battle with the International Olympic Committee, which thought the design was too similar to its own five-ring symbol. Audi, however, successfully defended its brand.
-
Facebook’s logo, while understated, is instantly recognisable by its lowercase font and blue and white colour scheme. The brand’s founder, Mark Zuckerberg, chose this palette due to his red-green colour blindness, meaning blue was one of the few colours he could see clearly. Since its introduction in 2005, the logo has barely changed, reflecting the company’s straightforward approach of bringing people together online.
-
Apple’s logo is a perfect example of simplicity and sophistication. Created by Rob Janoff in 1977, the logo originally featured a rainbow-coloured apple with a bite taken out of it. The bite was added to ensure the apple wasn’t mistaken for a cherry. Today, the design has evolved into a sleek, monochromatic icon, perfectly embodying Apple’s focus on cutting-edge technology and minimalist design. When Steve Jobs was asked why he chose the name ‘Apple,’ he simply said, “It was simple but strong.”

By Nevele is a creative design studio founded by Gideon Cudjoe, a curious creative with a passion for perspective changing content. With a background in industrial design engineering, Gideon has cultivated an approach that combines the precision of engineering with imaginative thinking, allowing the studio to reverse-engineer concepts and reconstruct ideas that embody both core values and creative flair.
The studio’s logo reflects this philosophy. The reversed number "11", which inspired the name "Nevele", serves as a powerful symbol of balance and equality. The Roman numerals XI not only signify the concept of "11:11", a time of personal significance for Gideon, but also cleverly mimic a director’s chair, positioning By Nevele as a leader in creative direction.
While the brand encapsulates a complex narrative, its essence is expressed through a clean and recognisable design, making it both visually appealing and meaningful. By Nevele stands as a testament to the belief that great branding can beautifully package creativity and purpose.
Our creative process
At our creative studio, we believe that every project is a unique journey that transforms initial ideas into stunning visual identities. Our structured approach to design not only ensures creativity and innovation but also keeps our clients engaged and informed at every step. Here’s how we bring your vision to life:
Phase 1: Crafting Your Identity (Logo Design)
1. Type Testing
We kick off the creative journey by exploring typography and fonts. Whether it’s custom typefaces or licensed options, we dive into the world of lettering to find the perfect style that resonates with your brand’s personality.
2. Initial Exploration
Next, we piece together our initial design ideas. This phase is all about creativity and brainstorming, where we allow our imaginations to roam free, setting the stage for innovative design concepts.
3. Design Development
From our initial explorations, we refine the ideas down to a select few standout designs. Here, we focus on honing the visuals to ensure they align with your brand vision while maintaining uniqueness and appeal.
4. First Look: Initial Logo Selection
Its time to share a curated selection of logo concepts with you (approximately 4-6 designs). This collaborative phase is crucial; your feedback will guide us, and together, we’ll choose the design that fits your brand best! You'll probably love them all, but only one design will be selected for further development (unless agreed otherwise).
5. Confirming Font Licensing Information
As we finalise the design, we’ll confirm all font licensing details. Transparency is key, and we’ll clarify any terms associated with the fonts used. If commercial fonts are selected, you may need to purchase licenses to ensure everything is above board. All licensing documents and requirements will be provided with the final assets to ensure everything is properly documented.
6. Developing the Chosen Design
Once you’ve selected your favourite design, we’ll apply your feedback to refine and enhance it. This step in our process allows us to align the design with your vision, ensuring it captures the essence of your brand while maintaining its aesthetic appeal.
7. Refining the Final Design
With your approval, we’ll specify colours and tighten the design, preparing it for its grand reveal. Our focus is on ensuring that the final product is visually striking and ready to make an impact, delivering a polished, professional-grade design.
8. Exporting the Desired Design
Finally, we’ll export the finished design in all agreed formats, including Adobe Illustrator (original design file), PDF (vector file), PNG, and JPG. This ensures your brand assets are ready for both print and digital use, making it easy for you to showcase your new identity. If you require additional formats, please request them before the export process begins to avoid any additional administrative fees.
Phase 2: Building Your Brand World
Once your logo is finalised, we’re excited to take the next step in shaping your brand’s visual identity. If you’re eager to enhance your brand’s appeal and infuse more magic into your overall brand world, this second phase of branding is definitely worth exploring.
1. Exploring Art Direction
By Nevele kickstarts Phase 2 of our brand-building process with design trend research and insights into the visual landscape of your industry. We then take a creative leap into art direction, exploring ways to expand your brand world. This phase typically involves examining typography, layouts, photography, moving images, illustrations, and campaign ideas that can enhance your brand’s appeal.
These insights guide us in using art direction effectively to communicate a cohesive visual story, helping to distinguish your brand aesthetic from competitors through innovative design.
2. Web & Social Brand Aesthetic
Next, we examine how yuur brand translates across digital platforms. We create a distinctive web and social media aesthetic that ensures your brand is consistent and engaging everywhere it appears.
3. Refining Style Rules
In this stage of development, we define how your brand behaves across various contexts. We explore your tone of voice, messaging, and the specific use of assets and templates to ensure a cohesive brand presence. This serves as the glue that binds your visual identity to your brand's values, enhancing the overall coherence of your new brand identity.
4. Developing Brand Guidelines
We’re almost there! To wrap up, we compile your beautifully crafted brand elements into a top-line brand guidelines deck. For those looking for a more comprehensive identity package, we also offer detailed brand and visual identity packages tailored to meet your specific needs.
